Yacht charters in Marmaris – Marmaris Bay

yacht charters Turkey-yacht_charters_Marmaris-Marmaris_Bay.jpgThe bay of Marmaris is for itself a great sailing area, and as well the venue for the annual Marmaris Race Week in the fall, with many of the Yacht Charter MArmaris crews participating.

There are of course many taverns and restaurants with their own dock or jetty – especially popular: the restaurant of the "Dutch Ahmet" at the small yacht harbour of the Kumlu Bükü yacht club in a bay with lots of pine and shingle beach is still within the Marmaris Bay, just off Cape Kadirga. They offer upscale Turkish cuisine with many specialties, many of the Marmaris Yacht Charter crews make their first or last stopover during the cruise here.

After leaving the bay, yacht charter Marmaris crews have the choice – between a trip to the West with circumnavigation of Bozburun peninsula to the Datca peninsula and then into the Gulf of Gokova, to the south towards the Greek Dodecanese islands of Rhodes and Symi, or eastward to the Gulf of Fethiye.

The first large bay to the east, however, is a restricted military area. Charter Yachts from Marmaris do best sailing a big circle around the island Yilancik located in front of Karaagac Bay and the submerged rocks Edmonds Rock (Turkish: Turnali Kayasi) in the west of the island. Under protection is the "turtle beach" of Dalyan, which should not be entered. Good stopover on the way to the Fethiye Gulf: the My Marina in Ekincik Bay – and a to the Dalyan estuary and the freshwater lake Koycegiz can be recommended as well.
